A Win for Delavan-Grider Residents!

The Community Advisory Group meeting that our American Axle team fought for was a rounding success, and the DEC and site owner heard the community loud and clear that they want more frequent meetings. As a result, the NYS DEC has committed to hosting monthly CAG meetings for Axle! We will share info on the next meeting as soon as it is scheduled.

We now have a Linktree!

We recently made a Linktree to make it easier for folks to find and share info on our upcoming events and key highlights at Clean Air! Check it out – linktr.ee/cleanairwny

NY Renews Updates

Last week, Clean Air joined other members of NY Renews to push for a more equitable and just long term plan from National Fuel.

National Fuel’s current draft plan continues to push for expansions of the natural gas infrastructure, rather than center a gradual and just phase down that will maintain jobs and prevent socioeconomic  hardship. National Fuel is also funding a large disinformation campaign with funding from the Conservation Incentive Program on our gas bills, a rather absurd use of this fee.
Click here to send a letter demanding a just plan!

NY Renews is also working to pass the Climate Jobs and Justice package and the NY HEAT act in the final days of the legislative session. Click here to sign up for the statewide phone relay tomorrow, and here to learn more about the current status of the NY HEAT Act.

New York’s Economywide Cap-and-Invest Pre-Proposal Webinar Series

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) are hosting a pre-proposal webinar series to provide the public an opportunity to learn about the rulemakings under development for the New York State Cap-and-Invest Program. Read the press release.

This is the first set in a series of webinars to inform the public and encourage written feedback during the initial phase of outreach. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available at capandinvest.ny.gov. If you wish to continue receiving updates on the development of the Cap-and-Invest Program, please join the Climate Act mailing list.

Below is the full list of scheduled webinars for this first round. For more information on how to join the webinars, please visit capandinvest.ny.gov.

June 6, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Natural Gas focused webinar

As New York begins drafting regulations, regulators are considering California’s existing economywide programs, as well as those operating in Quebec and Washington State. This webinar series will provide the public with a series of questions on topics that DEC and NYSERDA are seeking input. DEC and NYSERDA are interested in hearing what elements of other jurisdictions’ regulations would work well in New York, and what improvements or changes may best serve New York.

Huge Win for Build Public Renewables!

The budget finally passed, and we’re thrilled to share that it not only includes Build Public Renewables, but also the strong labor standards that we advocated for as members of the the Energy Democracy Alliance and NY Renews! Read more about this monumental statewide win by clicking here, and check out this guide that runs through all the policy wins and losses from this year’s budget session.

But what the heck is leachate? Gizmodo recently published a great explainer all about the management and chemistry of landfills – check it out by clicking here!
