For immediate and emergency services and support, below are a list of resources: 

Food: 

  • Food Bank WNY: (716) 852-1305

The Food Bank of WNY website has the most up to date list of food pantry and food services information, including ever changing schedules and available services of each location. Additionally, Buffalo Public Schools and Ken-Ton School Districts are providing free lunches.

Utilities:

Please note that if you call your utility providers for support during this time, you must say that you are experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 crisis.

City of Buffalo Water Customers, please note that if your water has been shut off for nonpayment, you can get it turned back on WITHOUT A PAYMENT AT THIS TIME.

  • National Grid & National Fuel: Currently not doing any shut offs. 

Social Services:

  • Need to Apply for SNAP (food stamps) or HEAP (heating assistance)? Apply online at www.mybenefits.ny.gov. Call 716-858-8000 to have an application mailed to you. 
  • Need to Apply for Temporary Assistance (cash benefits)? Call 716-858-8000 to have an application mailed to you.

NYS is waiving the 7-Day waiting period for Unemployment Insurance benefits for people who are out of work due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) closures or quarantines

Health Care: 

  • Open Enrollment for NY State of Health. As COVID-19 continues to impact our state, it is especially important for all New Yorkers to have access to high-quality health care. The state has opened up a special enrollment period that lasts until April 15th for anyone who needs insurance coverage through NY State of Health. To enroll visit: https://nystateofhealth.ny.gov/
