Meet the couple that fights for change.

My name My name is Bill and I am a Clean Air Coalition member. In 1976 my wife Dottie and I moved to the city of Tonawanda, downwind from Tonawanda Coke, the Grand Island toll barriers, 3M, Dupont Yerkes Plant, FMC, Goodyear Dunlop, Huntley, NOCO and the Tonawanda Engine Plant. I began suffering from asthmatic bronchitis which has progressed to sleep apnea. I have basal cell skin cancers and continuous dermatitis of my legs. My bride of 43 years suffers incessantly with watery, itching eyes and nasal irritation since we have moved here.

There is no doubt in our minds that our environment is inherently linked to our health. In the past decade, I have become increasingly aware of large numbers of people in my community that suffer a far worse fate then my family. The vehicle of change is the Clean Air Coalition of WNY. My wife and I became members to stop the pollution that will surely poison Western New York’s future generations. Join us to make this change.

Its time for the world to meet Clean Air Coalition members. People who fight everyday for better health for themselves, their neighbors, and their community.

Currently, there are 200 companies in Western New York that pollute our air. These pollutants contain carcinogens like benzene, acrolein, and formaldehyde; chemicals that are all linked to several types of cancer.

By supporting the Clean Air Coalition, your gift of $25, $50 or $100 makes our air safer, and provides members like Bill the resources to continue to confront more sources of pollution, and serve as a backbone of a strong environmental justice movement in Western New York.

What does my donation do?

Membership donations are put right to work. Your membership helps the Coalition:

  • Go door-to-door to document how pollution impacts real people in Tonawanda, and on Buffalo’s West Side
  • Train residents to educate community leaders on environmental health issues
  • Provide translation and interpretation services for non-English speaking communities
  • Provide air sampling technology to residents to collect their own air samples, interpret the results and advocate for change.

Your donation entitles you to receive our newsletter, e-updates, action alerts, and invitations to special events.
